How To Make Multi- Colored Pancake Butterflies post thumbnail image

Yay! Sunday Errol took the kids so I could have a little extra time to cook ALONE! I’m just saying! I love my babies with my whole heart but I needed a little me-time especially with this quarantine and all! Anyways I just have to share with you all how to make multi-colored pancake butterflies! Yes you heard me right! When I called the boys to come eat they were so surprised and about how their pancakes were shaped just like butterflies and had whimsical colors on them.

Aren’t they adorable??? So to make them you’ll need a butterfly pancake mold- I got mine at William Sonoma. You’ll also need some food coloring and a few tooth picks. I used orange, purple and teal food coloring.

HOW TO MAKE THE MULTI-COLORED BUTTERFLY PANCAKES.

  • You’ll need to start with a good pancake recipe. You can use a box mix or try my recipe which is at the end of this post.
  • Next you need to heavily grease the pancake mold and griddle with cooking spray.
  • After that using a glass Pyrex measuring cup, pour a thin layer of the pancake mix inside of the mold. If you pour too much the batter will spill out and it will be a big gooey mess.
  • Make sure your heat is on medium low or else the bottom will brown before the pancake is set to turn
  • Here’s the fun part. Use a tooth pick and swipe a small amount of food coloring on it and then use it as pen and swipe your colors onto the pancake.
  • When the pancake batter begins to bubble, remove the mold and using a spatula, flip the pancakes.

Here’s what your pancake should look like when it’s time to remove the mold and flip.

After you flip your pancake it only needs to stay on the griddle for about 30 more seconds! If you like this idea then please check out my tutprial on how to make bunny-shaped pancakes just in time for Easter.

As promised, here’s my recipe! You’ll love this recipe! Better than any restaurant or box mix and only needs a few ingredients. I double this recipe to feed my family and have enough for a second day!

I’ve never seen these pancake molds. We like to have pancakes at least once a week, so I’ll definitely be trying this out.
