We were recently hosted to what might’ve been the most unexpected staycation we’ve ever been on,
so I’m sharing the 5 things families’ will love about the Lakehouse Hotel and Resort.
Talk about a Hidden Gem! The Lakehouse Resort is tucked away by a scenic lake in North San Diego County where families can enjoy golfing, swimming, and an array of water sports and boat rentals on the marina. Below find 5 things families’ will love about The Lakehouse Resort. This is a sponsored post, but as always, all opinions expressed are my own.
As a family of 5, we need large accommodations to be comfortable when we travel. The snoring, farting and everyone waking up in the middle of the night to pee can take all the rest and relaxation out of a family trip without the right kind of room set up. We had never visited the Lakehouse Resort and Hotel so when they invited us to stay for a few days I didn’t know what to expect. They booked us in their Adventure Suite and it was one of the most spacious and fun accommodations we’ve had the privilege to enjoy.
1. Children's Wing
Let’s begin with the main attraction for the kids, the 4-foot tepee tent in the separate downstairs space for the kiddos. The children’s wing of the adventure suite also included a children’s reading nook/library, three-tier bunk beds and a separate kid television. This is just one of the 5 things families will love about the LakeHouse Resort.
Parent's Wing
The main attraction for the parents was the big, fluffy king bed which was closest to the bathroom. The adult wing of the suite overlooks the kid’s adventure- giving parents a spacious semi-private place to relax.
2. Pools
The Lakehouse Resort and Spa has two massive pools and two-party size hot tubs. Only one of the pools are heated allowing vacationers to choose the pool temperature best for them. Both pools have easily assessable seating areas where you can relax while keeping a close eye on the kiddos. There was even a bar setup near the pool for refreshments.
3. Marina
Boat Basking is the main reason I’ve called the Lakehouse Resort and Spa a Hidden Gem.
The marina offers several options for cruising, group outings, dock leases, boat rentals, kayaks, fishing gear and more. You can rent paddle boats or pontoons. We opted for the large pontoon which seats up to 8 passengers. It has a table in the middle that was perfect for serving up afternoon lunch and enjoying a delicious beverage.
One of the most unexpected experiences were the amazing views as we slowly motored through the mountains. The water, mountains and beautiful birds made it one of the most peaceful experiences. Another of the 5 things families will love about the LakeHouse Resort.
4. Dining
The Lakehouse Hotel has two onsite restaurants: Amalfi Cucina Italiana that overlooks the marina and The Grill which has a view of the golf course. We ate at The Grill for a more casual dining experience and were delighted that in addition to the beautiful views of the golf course and a fire pit to keep everything warm and cozy there was live music! Finally, the food was amazing. My short ribs were so tender and my husband said the fish and chips were the best he’s ever had! The kids ate chicken strips, fries and mac-n-cheese! Everything was hot and delicious and another part of the 5 things families will love about the LakeHouse Resort.
5. Golf
St. Mark Golf Club is a mature, semi-private course nestled in the coastal foothills of North San Diego County right inside the Lakehouse Resort. Golfing is one of the main attractions at the Lakehouse Resort. Even though my husband didn’t get a chance to actually play golf this time, he did find some solace in being able to watch the golfers tee off on hole one from his seat at The Grill.
LLike I said, The Lakehouse Resort is truly, North San Diego County’s hidden gem and were glad we’ve discovered it.
