As a mom who loves to find family travel and couple’s travel destinations, I’m always on the lookout for places that offer both excitement and relaxation. For  a while, that I’ve had my eye on

Murrieta, CA

for a while, which made being invited so much more exciting! One call later and it was grandparents to the rescue, so we could make this a romantic getaway in California, just one hour away from San Diego!

Murrieta’s convenient location made it an easy drive from San Diego, and once we arrived, we knew we had found a hidden gem. The people are so friendly and I was blown away by how many activities there were to do on our romantic getaway in California. Don’t worry, I made an Itinerary with 5 cool things to do in Murrieta so you don’t have to! And if you want to watch a recap, you can watch it here!

.

Rest and Relaxation

As a family of 5, we started our romantic getaway in California with some rest and relaxation. You might think you can only access the beautiful escape that Murrieta Hot Springs Resorts offers by booking an overnight stay, but you can actually treat yourself to a day pass!

There are dozens of soaking pools, water features, and cold plunges to help you feel rejuvenated, and you can even add a spa treatment to get a soothing massage or revitalizing facial. We loved our daycation at Murrieta Hot Springs, soaking in the mineral-rich waters was the perfect way for hubby and I to unwind.

Now that we were well rested, it was time for some adventure on our romantic getaway in California!

A Taste of Wine Country

Just a short 10-minute drive away, is the gorgeous Wilson Creek Winery, technically in Temecula. There are so many amazing wines to choose from and you can’t beat the view or the price! I was surprised that for only $25-$30, you can indulge in 6 tastings in this incredible atmosphere. One thing to keep in mind is wine tasting is first come, first serve!

Murrieta's Best Bites

Food is a big part of any trip for our family, and The Mill did not disappoint. We recommend the calzones and pasta at The Mill. We had a shrimp and garlic calzone for the first time and our lives are not the same! I’m still thinking about their food, it definitely deserves 5 stars.

Murrieta's Hidden History

We love learning about the places we visit, so exploring Historic Old Town Murrieta was a must on our romantic getaway in California.

Fun fact, this is Murrieta’s very own piece of California’s Historic Route 395, and it provided plenty of opportunities to learn and take some perfect photos with the unique and picturesque backdrop of yesteryear. Murrieta trulyis a hidden gem, with charming shops and a huge list of restaurants to indulge in!

The next time we take a family road trip down to Murrieta, I would add the Murrieta Museum to our list of activities. Speaking of a huge list of restaurants, this next spot is a must on your romantic getaway in California!

Murrieta’s Fairway Fun

This next on the list of 5 cool things you can do in Murrieta can be a great way to share a romantic getaway in California or to split up and explore on your own. Errol was excited to play a round of golf at Golf Club at Rancho California, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones. This beautiful 18-hole, par 72 course has been open for 50+ years and offers

7,036 Yards

Can you believe you can play during the week for as low as $43. Don’t worry, they also have a practice facility! For a full look at the course, you can check out Gorman’s Golf newest reel

Our romantic getaway in Murrietta was the perfect escape we needed to come back feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. 1. I didn’t realize there’s so much to do in Murrietta! Next time we plan a day-cation, this will definitely be on the list. If I don’t get the opportunity to stay at the resort, I’ll take advantage of their day pass!
