The city of Solvang hosted our family on an adventurous staycation this past fall and I shared about it on my social media sites. You know what? I am still getting texts, calls and DMs asking for more information about our Solvang trip. A blog post with all the details about our stay and itinerary are long overdue. If you’re planning some safe fun read on and learn why you should visit Solvang this spring.
Hotel Accommodations For Families
Solvang won me over with its loads of Danish-style architecture, many wineries and fun activities for the family!!! First, let me tell you about our hotel accommodations. The kids were so hyped when we arrived at Vineland Hotel and Lounge because our hotel had an upstairs loft! And you know kids like to run up stairs, and have their own sleeping quarters for adventures of their own!!! That worked for us because us parents like to have our privacy as well. There were two beds downstairs and a queen loft upstairs. Our hotel was in the heart of Solvang and literally just a block away from any of the major sights to see about town.
What To Do On Your Solvang Visit..
9 times out of 10 you’ll pass through Santa Barbara on your way to Solvang. I’d recommend stopping at the beach either on the way there or the way home. The coastal drive is absolutely beautiful and is worth a short detour.
On our Solvang Visit we walked the picturesque town snapping photos of windmills, eating at Danish bakeries and candy shops.
If you’re traveling with kids take them to Chomps for lunch! That’s what we did! It’s an American diner with kid-favorites like burger and hot dogs plus it has a dinosaur statue and other fun décor that made it memorable. The statue of the Little Mermaid is also right outside.
For diner we dined open air under a string of lights at Succulents for dinner! Even with kids, the atmosphere felt so romantic and everything was so good! Especially the short ribs (the were so tender) and the Brussel sprouts.
If you stay overnight get up early & get on the waiting list for Paula’s Pancake House. They were so good! Families will have an adventure when they visit Solvang this spring!
I would also recommend a trolley ride tour around town with Solvang Trolley and wine tasting at Dana V Wines for a family friendly experience!!! Our kids also enjoyed an unforgettable visit to the Ostrich Farm.
For more information on all the wonders Solvang has to offer head over to Solvang USA!! Masks are required but we quickly removed them and put them back on to snap photos!
A visit to Solvang this spring would make a great daytrip, staycation or spring break vacation for families! For more spring break ideas for the family, read about our glamping experience at El Capitan Canyon in Sanata Barbara or our coastal staycation at the Terranea Resort .
