Our family tradition is to make sweet potato pies for Thanksgiving. The recipe I use has been passed down three generations from my paternal grandmother who gave her recipe to my mother and now to me. My grandmother had 8 children and being the amazing cook that she was- hosted family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner. So her recipe makes 10 sweet potato pies- enough to feed a crowd. With the help of a friend, I’ve got grandma’s recipe down to make 2 sweet potato pies. But like I said, today’s post is more about the pie crust. So let’s get right into it.

By using leaf and flower pie punches, you can arrange a beautiful wreath on your Thanksgiving or holiday pie. Although it looks complicated, even a novice can make an elegant pie like this. Let the pie punches do all the work.

Write a message on your pie using cookie cutters. The message can be a funny food-pun, or it can be faith-based. The message I wrote on my pie reminds family and friends that God is good even when our circumstances don’t feel good.
