Spooky Owl Turkey Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 handful baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 15 oz can of crushed tomato
  • 26 oz jar of marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce
  • 16 oz can of kidney beans (water drained)

Instructions

  • In a food processor pulse the spinach and garlic until minced. Transfer to a large sauce pan.
  • Turn heat on to medium high for the large sauce pan. Add the ground turkey and onion with the spinach and garlic. Add all seasonings. Break ground turkey apart while it's cooking with a wooden spoon until the turkey is browned and cooked (7-10 minutes.) Drain excess fat from the pan.
  • Add diced tomatoes, beans and marinara sauce. Stir the ingredients. Bring the sauce pan to a broil, cover and reduce heat to simmering for 5 minutes.
  • Serve in a bowl. Optional: top with sour creme, sharp cheddar cheese and diced chives.

To Make The Spooky Owl Chili

  • Bake store-bought crescent rolls according to the directions on a box. Set to the side.
  • Spoon or pipe two large dallops of sour creme at the top of a bowl of chili. Then add black olived to the center of the sour cream dallops to make the eyes.
  • Next take two crescent rolls and place them under the eyes at a diagonal to make owl wings
  • Finally, using a knife with a sharp tip, cut out owl's feet and a beak from a slice of sharp cheddar cheesew
