5 Tips on Boosting Your Curb Appeal on a Budget! post thumbnail image

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at work. My dad a seasoned investor had called me and asked me to meet him at a house he thought would be perfect for Errol and I on my lunch break. Pulling up to this house I just remember thinking, “absolutely NOT!” I wanted something with tons of charm. I wanted a spiritual experience with the home we were buying. I wanted to be completely swept off my feet. beforehomeLooking back on things I’m so glad our home didn’t ooze with character and charm from the outside. It could’ve thrown us into a bidding war and we could’ve been forced to pay tens of thousands more to win! I just remember the longer we spent in the house the more conflicted I became. The more my, “absolutely NOT” became a, “Maybe….” and eventually became a strong urgent sense that this was our next home.

I could write paragraph upon paragraph to tell you about the many miracles we’ve experienced by which the Lord poured his grace upon us and has allowed us to turn this house into OUR home- room by room- project by project- prayer by prayer. Which leads me to my latest home adventure. The kids and I have spent the last two weeks giving our front porch and yard some much needed TLC!

If you’ re not crazy about your home’s exterior appearance here’s 5 tips to add on some serious curb appeal while on a budget!

  1. Paint your front door and shutters with a color that pops. We didn’t have shutters so we added some for a really great price at Lowes. The paint and shutters cost less than $250. These are the exact black window shutters I got at Lowes.frontporch72 . Add window boxes! These plastic window boxes cost only $7 each at Lowes! Can’t beat that!!! The window boxes just bring on all the feels!!!frontporch3frontporch43. Add a wreath and stylish number decals to your front door. I also got number decals for my mailbox. The decals came to $25 and my wreath was $30. There’s so many options from vendors at Etsyfront door decor4. Pot gorgeous blooms at your front door! We went with white hydrangeas because our roof covers the front door so it’s pretty shady. We’re loving the new space we’ve created! For both hydrangeas and the soil I spent under $60 at a local nursey.frontporch65. Don’t be afraid to use your green thumb. I had almost given up on gardening because the last three times I planted flowers they all died. So this time I got serious, did my research and gave my green thumb one last try. So glad I did not give up. My little flower garden is thriving! The dahlias, dragons and poppies have really given my yard some colorful eye-candy! I spent about $250 on flowers and soil.  frontporch8flowersAnd I have my sons to thank as well. They have driven with me all around town to Lowe’s and several nurseries as I picked out hardware, got consultations on flowers and had to purchase the correct soil etc. They agreed to help me water and pick weeds on a regular basis! Aren’t they the sweetest?!workers.jpg

The entire project cost about $700. I hope these ideas were helpful for your house! Here’s a few things you can do this spring to get out the house 7 Things You Just Have to do This Spring!
