What a genius of a creator God is- especially when it comes to the Fall season. Since becoming a mom this season has taken on a whole new meaning for me- dressing up the littles in adorable costumes, visits to the farm & taking in the smells & tastes of pumpkin-spice-everything- not to mention sweater-weather.

So I had to share my bucket list of 5 things you just have to do this Fall!  Here goes!

  1. Bake A Seasonal Pie!openfaced apple pie bakedI made this open-faced apple pie with a leaf border crust this week. For  a similar recipe check out my Easy Apple Pie Cups. The filling is the exact same. But there’s a ton more than apples to bake this time of year- consider a pear tart, sweet potato pie or pumpkin cheesecake bars. The key to baking is to enjoy it. Set the atmosphere. I wait till the kids are taking a nap, then I burn a candle, drink a glass of wine and listen to some relaxing music while making magic happen in the kitchen. I love to see the look on my kids and husband’s faces when they take that first bite! The other way to bake is by including the kids. Embrace the chaos and let go of all expectations LOL!  Marvel at the fun they will have and eating something they made.
  2. Go Leaf Peeping!fallbucketlist4.jpgI remember my first fall as a freshman at Syracuse University. Being that I’m from Los Angeles,  I had never seen the glory of the countryside when the autumn foliage sets in and the leaves dress up in hues of red, orange and yellow. I almost cried and called home to tell my mother about it. Doing my best to give my toddlers that same awe-inspiring experience we set out to the quaint town of Oak Glen for the first time last fall. Picking apples, enjoying cider donuts and leaf-peeping made the hour and a half drive with toddlers totally worth it. We are heading back in November before Thanksgiving and I can’t wait.
  3. Go on a Hayride.fallbucketlist5There’s nothing better than visiting a farm or pumpkin patch and going on a hayride. Makes such a memorable fall festivity.
  4. Dress Up as a Family this Halloween!fallbucketlist3Last year I hosted a group costume party in our backyard with pizza, a pumpkin bounce-house, and apple-bobbing. It was so neat seeing how creative our guests got with their group costumes! After watching 101 Dalmatians we decided to try and pull it off as a family with me as Cruella De’Ville, my husband as the dog catcher and the kids as the Dalmatian pups! So much fun ya’ll! Can’t wait to show you our group costumes this year.
  5. Carve Pumpkins Together..fallbucketlist1.jpgThis year we carved pumpkins together as a family. It was so fun! I hadn’t done it since elementary school. I was surprised at how easy it was. I bought a pumpkin carving kit during our visit to the farm and it came with templates of designs. Our kids were so proud of what they made- and to see the looks of wonder and excitement on their faces when it got just dark enough to put a candle inside.

How are you enjoying the fall season?? Leave a comment below and tell us what we should add to our bucket-list.
