Trimming the Tree & Telling a Truer Story

We are in the midst of preparing our children’s hearts for Christmas. And I’m not talking about seeing the holiday lights or writing letters to Santa although we will do some of that too and I can’t wait to share about that in another blog post. I’m talking about passing on the wonder of the greatest love story, the most needed gift in all human history: how God sent His only son as a baby to rescue and redeem us.

Now that the boys are almost 4 and 5-years-old and they can understand more we used trimming the tree to pass on this truth this year. I am a fan of Ever Thine Home’s Christmas Ornaments because they can all be used to share your faith with your family! The ornaments are beautiful and they share bible verses and important parts of the Christmas story. So just talking about the message on the ornaments becomes an intentional way to share your faith with your family! I am not sure if these are still in stock but the kids loved the Christam carol ornamanets because we all sang them and read the history behind each song. They want to do it every night. Being snug under the tree also gives us space to read Advent books and do Advent activities. I’d also like to reccomend Kids Reath Truth for resources. We read our kids, “This is The Christmas Story. We also ordered their Advent conversation cards and can’t wait to try those out.

For our families of faith- do you have any special tradtions to teach your children about the Christams story? We’d love to hear them please share in the comments.
