Hi guys! Yesterday I shared my recipe and video tutorial on how to make the cake and mini cakes for my Valentine’s Day dessert station. Today I am going to show you how to make the rice krispy hearts.

So this was actually my very first time making rice krispy treats and I have to say it was easy and fun! You’ll only need 5 ingredients to pull this off! Even the most novice of bakers can do this!

Here’s the RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 STICKS OF BUTTER
  • 11 CUPS OF MINI MARSHMALLOWS
  • 1 TEASPOON OF VANILLA EXTRACT
  • 1/4 TEASPOON OF SALT
  • 9 CUPS OF RICE KRISPY TREATS

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Line a 17 x 12 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the parchment paper with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a large sauce pan. Add the marshmallows. Stir the mixture until all the marshmallows are completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Finally fold in the cereal.
  4. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Gently pat the mixture to fit the pan with a spatula.
  5. Allow the treats to set for at least an hour but preferably over night.
  6. Cut our hearts using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  7. Melt pink candy melts according to package and transfer warm melted candy into a piping bag. Clip the top of the icing bag and drizzle the hearts.
