As much as I love to travel, adventuring far is not always an option, so I’m so happy we were hosted to a romantic weekend getaway within 2 hours of San Diego!

My husband just went around the sun another time, and a part of his birthday celebration was a couples’ getaway that we were hosted to at The Resort at Pelican Hill.

We set out to find activities we could enjoy together in this beautiful resort tucked in beautiful Newport Beach. You can watch a full recap of your trip here!

Let's start with a fun couples activity most people overlook.

Here are 3 activities for your next romantic couples getaway:

Couple's Golf Day

Golf might seem like an unexpected choice for a romantic weekend getaway, but trust me, it’s a fantastic bonding activity to create the most beautiful memories.

My husband was shocked to find out there were not one but two courses at this Newport Beach resort. Don’t worry about being a pro; the fun lies in trying something new together. We even had a couples photoshoot to commemorate our romantic weekend getaway, linked in my post here

Fun Fact:

The Resort at Pelican Hill enjoys about 300 days of sun!

You may be wondering how we find photographers, and the answer is Snappr; you can find out more here! After enjoying the beautiful surroundings and each other’s company, it was time for date night idea at the Coliseum Pool & Grill.

Dinner Date With a View

With a big family, finding alone time with your partner can be challenging. Dinner dates are one of our favorite ways to relax and spend quality one-on-one time.

Good food makes a romantic weekend getaway even more special! Coliseum Pool and Grill offers seasonal menus made from fresh ingredients and ocean-view terraces.

Here's what we indulged in:

-Caesar salad

-Filet Minon

Which included garlic potato puree, sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and bearnaise.

-Paccheri Pasta

Which included truffle mascarpone, peas, mushroom, preserved lemon, and parmesan.

You can view our whole meal on my stories here.

The restaurant is also surrounded by the Coliseum Pool, one of the world’s largest circular pools, holding  380,000 gallons of chemical-free soft saltwater.

You can even book a private cabana that comes equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy your romantic couples getaway fully. You’ll find a music system, a 30-inch flat-screen TV, luxurious lounge chairs, and elegant drapes for privacy. We were so relaxed, but I wanted to make sure my husband felt pampered on his special day, so we headed to the spa.

Spa + Couple's Massage

Finding this balance was key to a romantic couples’ getaway trip. It’s incredible how a little pampering can revitalize your connection, especially when personalized therapies are centered on your needs using only the highest quality products.

You can choose from so many options, from Recovery Deep Tissue massages to Rejuvenation Aromatherapy massages. No matter which option you choose, one thing you can be sure about is the high quality of their small-batch, primarily organic botanical essential oils. It was the perfect way to unwind and head back home feeling fully rejuvenated.

From the neighborhoods of oversized bungalows and residential villas to the grand Coliseum pool with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, we enjoyed a much-needed romantic weekend getaway. As parents, we often get caught up in the daily routine, but it’s crucial to take time to invest in our relationships.

If you’re looking for a couples getaway within two hours of Los Angeles, this Newport Beach Resort is the perfect sanctuary! And remember, whether it’s a girlfriend trip or a couples getaway, be intentional about spending quality time with your loved ones.
